As predicted countless times libs think Manchin is the only thing between them and passing the "democratic agenda" whatever that really is

Some Democrats do want to pass stuff like the $15 minimum wage. Cori Bush is not the same as Nancy Pelosi. Get enough people who actually want to do shit in power and you can actually do shit.

I agree that if the majority elected official were like Cori Bush, things would be a lot better for us.

However, a large amount of country will simply not elect somebody like her, because she is "too extreme", and/or there would be so much institutional resistance to block people like her.

So :vote: ? I think the problem is the party not the electorate. The teacher strike in WV was very popular. You could probably elect a communist that campaigns on sending coal company execs to the gulag, or at least a militant union member. Unfortunately this isn't ever an option.

My point is that a lot of change will likely come from outside of electoral politics (which is not to say they should be ignored).

I also think that "socialist" and "communist" have such negative conations to people that it would already be a turn off. This is not to mention that caring more about social issues and/or personal bigotries will take precedent.

Additionally, since Cori Bush was the original person named, I think that a lot of these people will refuse to support a fairly outspoken black woman who self-identifies as a socialist.

Ten years ago it would have been impossible to imagine someone like Bernie Sanders getting anywhere close to the presidency. Last spring he had one of the most successful starts ever to a contested presidential primary. Things can change if we work on them.
