A new report claims that a new Nintendo Switch model that comes with a larger screen and can output 4K graphics when docked will be unveiled later this year.
TBH I'm very confused witb what they're doing here. Switch is selling well and hasn't had a price cut yet. Supply shortages for console parts are also huge. I really wonder if it'll be a Holiday 2021 thing or a March 2021 thing. A March launch with Pokemon Legends and/or BOTW2 would probably do just as well as a Holiday launch.
switch is already 4 year old hardware and nintendo's released a new handheld every 2 years since the game boy pocket
pocket > color > gba > gba sp > nintendo ds > ds lite > dsi > 3ds > 3ds xl > new 3ds > switch > switch lite
this is just par for the course for nintendo and meant to replace the base model so they don't lag behind too much in system specs, and my guess is this was supposed to release with monster hunter rise but coronavirus screwed things up so it's delayed to fall

It's been enough years that for the same price they can buy a more powerful chip.
the hardware was pretty paltry at launch too so they can do a proper upgrade.
