truthfully it'll be the system menu that outputs in 4k with some games maybe outputting in 1080p or 1440p instead of 900p
Yeah, I don’t see how they’d be able to upscale. The hardware wouldn’t be there, I don’t think, considering the Xbox one x was barely able to upscale to 4K and that thing was big
But it also ran on ancient Jaguar cores. Assuming there's some DLSS in the mix I think it'll be able to do 1080p > 4k
I’m still skeptical because the switch is just such a small console already and nintendo has never been known to be “up to date” when it comes to the best processors and resolution. They always seem to be just a touch behind, but the games always make up for it, plus they’re really good at optimizing games.
TBH I'm very confused witb what they're doing here. Switch is selling well and hasn't had a price cut yet. Supply shortages for console parts are also huge. I really wonder if it'll be a Holiday 2021 thing or a March 2021 thing. A March launch with Pokemon Legends and/or BOTW2 would probably do just as well as a Holiday launch.
switch is already 4 year old hardware and nintendo's released a new handheld every 2 years since the game boy pocket
pocket > color > gba > gba sp > nintendo ds > ds lite > dsi > 3ds > 3ds xl > new 3ds > switch > switch lite
this is just par for the course for nintendo and meant to replace the base model so they don't lag behind too much in system specs, and my guess is this was supposed to release with monster hunter rise but coronavirus screwed things up so it's delayed to fall
It's been enough years that for the same price they can buy a more powerful chip.
the hardware was pretty paltry at launch too so they can do a proper upgrade.
well it's more than likely meant to be an update to the switch than a total successor meaning it'll run the entire library
it's more than likely going be $300 replacing the base switch model
honestly that's not hard to save up for
