How do you accept that someone can be straight and accept that someone can be gay but then insist that, for no reason, it has to be strictly one or the other? It's so funny to me like why would you expect that to be the case

    Maybe partly cuz their internalized homophobia tells them everyone must have some gender they are disgusted of. They can see that a gay person isnt disgusted of their partner, but when a bi person is with someone, they dont see that there is no disgust for genders they are not currently with, so they assume the person is just gay/straight based on who theyre with right now. Since theyre disgusted with the idea of being with someone of a gender theyre not attracted to, they cant empathise that not everyone feels that way, to them its like being asked to imagine a color that doesnt exist.
