Been getting into Revocation lately. Insanely good technical death metal band. So far have just listened to their album The Outer Ones and it is a banger.
Also been listening to the new Protest the Hero and Haken albums. Protest the Hero, having punk roots, is pretty left in their politics. All Hands, my favorite off the new album, is about the Boston Molasses Flood. It focuses on the injustice represented by the event considering a lot of victims were there to earn a living, but their lives were not valued enough for safety precautions to be followed. One of the really cool lines that exemplifies that is "I can see my train is coming in and at the last second, it crashes into me".
Haken's new album is really fucking good. They're essentially a modern version of Dream Theater if you've never heard them. Pretty hard-hitting, but catchy metal with tons of technical prowess and enough complexity to reward you for many listens.
Also listening to the new Oliver Tree album. It's a super catchy one and puts me in a good head space. He's essentially a modern version of early 2000s indie with some heavy electronic elements at times. Really catchy vocals too.
I just checked out the new Gojira single as well and it fucking slaps.
