My experience has been: if you get along with your workmates you can bear through it just as an excuse to be paid to hang out with them. But you still hate the job itself except where you maybe are able help someone out in some way.
However, after about 3 years in my office job, I've decided to go back to painting while I get into game design. 3 years as a painter's apprentice was a hell of a time, but it was totally worth it.
