So does that make the name change the ChapoChat/Hexbear's equivalent to Eastern Roman Empire/Byzantine Empire?
No, because I'm pretty sure "Byzantine empire" is used by western Europeans to delegitimize the Greek phase of the Roman Empire. I could be wrong but I think that's at least part of it. They never used the name Byzantine Empire.
They called themselves the Roman Empire until the 15th century, and referred to themselves as Romans until the 1920's. There are still a few very old people and some weirdos who call themselves Rhomaioi to this day.
Just like how most of us will still be calling ourselves Chapos even if "Hexbear.cum" reaches 100000 users :putin-wink:
Yeah I think you're right. It would probably go away faster if the new name was conducive of a user-nickname, like Chapos. "Hexbear posters" is the closest thing, but very few people will say "hexbears" because thats confusing.
We appropriate "Gay Bears" from WallStreetBets
I feel like bears are completely the wrong animal. CTHs userbase has always been hogs - we tell people to post hog, pigpoopballs is one of our oldest and most enduring memes, we beg for slop, etc.
Plus, it's funny to imagine that we're the pigs from Animal Farm.
This brand sucks lol
TC69 is our Charlemagne and this time it's fuck Lombardy, marry the Byzantine Empress instead.
