One of Donald Trump's last decisions in office was a squalid diplomatic deal with Morocco, granting US recognition of its occupation of Western Sahara in exchange for Moroccan recognition of Israel. Since the move, the Saharawi population has faced intense military repression — yet the Biden administration refuses to say whether it will reverse Trump's colonial handover of the territory.
I mean, what else is to be done? Not defending jacobin in the least, but baiting the Biden admin to own orange man isn’t the worse thing in the world I suppose, even if ideologically inconsistent to who’s really at fault for global problems
Like if someone baited Biden to leave Haiti alone, remove trumps Cuba policies, etc.... not a bad thing.
He probably won’t of course
Whole-heartedly disagree. The truth is the only lasting remedy. Anything else, even if immediately appealing, is obfuscation and will fail eventually if not immediately.
Which is likely: trump’s handling of W Sahara serves Biden, or Biden serves to remedy our and other’s exploitation of W Sahara with Trump’s mishandling as fodder?
What are we talking about here? You just putting all your hope in Biden and covering the bet with justifications?
To talk about this on the merits would be to defend W Sahara, not to attack our past selves for the crimes. Let’s see what Biden does beyond ridicule.
To talk about this philosophically, it’s a question of incrementalism. I take your position to be that any gain is a good one. I see structured opposition and capitulations designed to perpetuate the oppression.
