Sorry if there's a thread for this already or something, but I didn't check because I'm a dirtbag.

New vegan here (struggle sesh convert), need tips from all of my seitanic elders in this comm.

:vegan-seitan:

What do you wish you'd known when you first started? What's a cool life hack or perspective that you've figured out? What should I do with the cheese sitting in my fridge that I haven't thrown out yet?

Veganism is not a fucking diet, animal liberation matters.

Veganism is a way of thinking. While "not eating meat" is a part of it, veganism isn't just a lifestyle choice or a diet. Learn about the way animals are oppressed around you, such as cetaceans (whales, dolphins) in aquariums. Or the links between animal abuse and White supremacy (such as via the book in this post). You'll realize how intrinsically animal liberation is tied to anti-capitalism, racial justice etc. I'd say keeping that perspective in mind will prevent you from just becoming another liberal "vegan".

Cool tip: tofu and seitan are both dope. Super cheap, high in protein, and easy to cook. Turns out most of the flavor in meat is actually just the seasoning you add to it and the oil you cook it in.

Hell yeah! There's a vegan burger place I tried out last night. So damn good.

oh damn, that sounds hella good too. I'm going to have to try and find somewhere that does that.

I actually know the family that runs the Chinese takeout place like a block from my apartment, so I should just straight up ask them to start making that lol

Watch out for b12 deficiency if you don't supplement it
