The funny thing is for all your spleen venting John Oliver has undoubtedly done more to advance the goals of the American left than you ever have. He has introduced basic left wing talking points about race, the economy, history, societal structures and the deep systemic flaws within and made them palatable and easy to understand for the average American citizen (amazingly the average American is not a Twitter Bolshevik).

I actually credit John Oliver with helping me become more left. Because of his videos on the subject I wanted to learn more left wing things and I discovered Lindsay Ellis, then Shaun, then from Shaun Contrapoints and from her Three Arrows and then philosophy tube and Some More News, renegade cut. All because a funny comedian met me where I was at and got me interested in politics.

If you actually want leftist goals to succeed you have to convince the average person to adopt leftist beliefs and that means conversing with them on their level.

    I am not sinophobic wtf lol you might be Islamophobic though. Look I know that many instances of “radical Islamic terrorism” have occurred in Xinjiang and it’s a contentious region, but if you think any government on the planet won’t lump a few innocent members of a group in with the bad actors you are very naive, to say “no crimes against humanity” are occurring so definitely is to assume that China is the first country to ever 100% accurately ascertain who is and who isn’t a radical. I’m sure they do better than the US did domestically post-9/11 but you seem certain that they’ve nailed it perfectly. Very strange.

    I’m well-aware the United States (and France to a somewhat lesser degree) commits many indefensible acts and I know Zenz is an evangelical CIA kook.     this situation has been defused by CPC’s actions & the will of the Xinjiang people to move past the extremism & backwardness and into the more integrated future

    Uyghurs are now moving away from that precipice of radicalism & accepting a better deal from the PRC to receive uplift & social & economic development

    Those last 2 literally read like PR statements lol trust me I realize the CIA interferes with China in a major way but if you can’t see the value in questioning it’s activity in the region then you’re not being impartial yourself.       There are no crimes against humanity occurring, nor are there any proven to be occurring. I would say that you erring on the side of "China bad" is wrong here, and reveals deeper-seated biases on the face of it

      Yes, the CIA is bad, and whether you're 100% convinced or not is immaterial in the context of admitting that the CIA tailors foreign news stories & stokes unrest and insurrectionary separatist splinter cells in foreign countries. Whether you think it's combative that someone is skeptical of your doubling-down even after admitting Zenz' lies & CIA meddling, I think you need to examine more closely here

      Offering family planning & women's healthcare in these historically underdeveloped region is a sign of modernity & uplift extended to these places. To assume it's something else is to against err on the side of feudalistic backwardness rather than real social cohesion & integration of these people's into the unified whole.

      CPC has sovereign control in the places & those People have to manage their own affairs. I will err on the side of China's unity & stability as PRC has always been a multi-ethnic & multi-national polity.

      The CIA intervenes in a major way. You admit that. Nothing else really matters without any evidence.

      I don't think you intend to be hateful in your remarks, but reverting back to anti-communist bias without any real evidence of "crimes" in Xinjiang (outside of Salafi jihadist violence) is not Leftism or nuance or even-handedness. It's just a kneejerk reaction & "Otherization" of the specific context in PRC
