I'm proposing On Authority because it is incredibly concise and dispelled a lot of my second-guessing of the structure of organisations and the nature of authority.

I think it's pretty timeless and unimpeachable. I could be swayed on whether it's good for a reading group, but it's one of my personal favourites.

And also (splitting comment to have one suggestion per comment)

    • On the abolition of all political parties Simone Weil, https://b-ok.asia/book/2456953/ec7bc3 the text itself is quite short and I remember it being a very interesting read (and Weil is a very interesting person anyway)

Umberto Eco's "Ur-Fascism." Very short but from experience in my own book club, very rich material for discussion.

I propose the following (will edit if more occur to me):

    • Notes from the Underground Part I, chapter I, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, it's a novel, but I think the very first chapter is already quite something to think about

    One more:

    • The Three Sources and Three Component Parts of Marxism, Lenin, https://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1913/mar/x01.htm it's short, it's good.

How about the Preface to a Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy by Marx, a pretty classic short text
