whaaaat I've been playing this game quite a bit recently but it didn't even occur to me that there could be mods

installing them is pretty easy, there's a download and instructions on how to use the mod manager in the first link I posted here. For the total overhaul mods I would recommend Captains Edition first, once I played that a handful of times there was no going back to just default FTL
