This is basically an admission that the F35 failed. It was supposed to be a lightweight general-purpose replacement for the F-16, and it's been over-engineered to the point where it's either a highly specialized fighter or completely useless. A fucking trillion and a half dollars just flushed down the drain. The entire Belt and Road initiative is cheaper then the F35, and far more helpful to China's geo-strategic interests than the F35 is to America's.
so the f.35 really is a disapointment , or why do they need the next one ?
I can't remember the specifics, but the f35 had trouble with literally staying in the fucking air, iirc.
It didn't have trouble with making Lockheed-Martin a ton of money, though.
Fucking crazy how they can be given like a trillion dollars and then turn in a piece of shit that literally doesn't even do the basic job of "staying in the air" and its all good, but if I clock in late once or twice at a $15/hr job i get shit-canned fucking immediately.

They should just make the FB-22(ground attack version of the F-22) lol. Like this plane literally looks like a 10x worse version of the FB-22. Or not, because the MIC wasting tonnes of money on shitty planes is good for the rest of the world.

I mean, I understand the feeling, but at the same time this is wasting a huge amount of cash that could be spent like, I dunno, helping people NOT die.
My thought process is that since there’s no chance in hell that the US would ever use that money to help its people, this is the best outcome we can realistically hope for
