OK, I went ahead and did a search, and didn't find it. I think maybe he said it on the podcast? Basically, I think he was talking about how helpless you can feel sometimes when you see how insane and wrong things are. The part I definitely remember is him saying, "And you say, 'What the fuck?' because all you can say is 'What the fuck.'" When I see terrible things and think "what the fuck," I think of that. I replied "What the fuck" today to terrible shit happening in Denmark. What am I going to do about terrible shit in Denmark? So I say "what the fuck" because all I can say is "what the fuck." Sorry, this is kind of a downer and an attitude that I really fight against having, but it has stuck with me.
Oh for sure. I've definitely heard him talk about stuff like this. Like feeling totally powerless in the face of this awful shit, and how even some of our stupidest responses are really just a frantic reaction to knowing there's nothing we can do. To be fair, he does usually follow it up with something about building community and taking care of the people around you.
Yeah, I don't think Matt is blackpilled at all and he is definitely in favor of getting involved in your community irl and looking for opportunities to build something where you are. That reaction to feeling helpless really stuck with me though because when I heard him say it, I was instantly like, "yes, that's it, that's exactly it, that's how I feel." So I can even hear his voice in my head saying "And you say "what the fuck" because all you can say is "what the fuck." Like, it's burned into my brain. Cheesy, I know.
Lol I feel goofy talking about this in a shitting on the cult of Matt thread, but in one of his streams he went down one of those holes and he said something about being black pilled and said, "so unless you're going to kill yourself... Which you're not gonna do." There was something about the way he said it that stuck with me. Like he genuinely realized in that moment people take him seriously and he cares about that and wants people to be ok. I think he's a good person. Is he worth building a cult around? Hell no. Are there worse people to listen to? Most definitely.
lol yeah, I get that feeling. I'm posting cringe today for sure. But I do agree with you on your assessment of Matt (and the people who take him too seriously).
I'm curious now

We could probably use a little more good-natured cringe tbh

This is the important bit, I'm not saying you should delete your twitch accounts
Oh absolutely, I definitely took it as the fanpage being a bit much and not that he has nothing useful to say.
