I know there was discussion about it awhile back, but I'm not sure if anything ever materialized. If you are interested, I'd encourage you to put your suggestion down below. Not sure how deep people are into the theory side of this tendency, so I'd say try not to pick anything super dense.
As far as logistics go, we could probably use the perusall that r/CTH had as infrastructure?
Mutual Aid: Kropotkin super relevant & applicable and I think his writing is approachable
My vote is for "Are Prisons Obsolete" by Angela Davis. I know she's not quite an Anarchist, but prison abolition should be taken seriously by anyone who comes here.
Also I just bought it this morning and needed an excuse to read it.I’d be down to read some Graeber. I’ve been meaning to read Utopia of Rules.
Graeber's good and I'll happily do a re-read of Debt: The First 5000 Years.
Honestly wouldn't mind trying to slog through Piketty again, but I'm a sadist who just enjoys watching other people stumble when they try to lift the damned thing.
I'm just winging it. if I can't make this work, someone else will help me out. A lot of the time, there's study guides online for the better known books.
I need to read "Anarchy Works" by Peter Gelderloos, it would be my vote. I've only read snippets, but it's good and it gives answers to the typical "AnArChY iS tOo IdEaLiStIc, HoW wOuLd It WoRk?" questions.
i'm probably not gonna join since i have my own reading list (which is not going well lmao) but if i were to give any advice it'd be to have a very forgiving schedule as reading groups tend to die when people don't meet deadlines and then give it up
I've barely read any theory, but every time I do I get some new insight. Reading Anarchism and other Essays has reignited my love of reading after the fire almost went out.
I'd be good with On Anarchism. I've got two Chomsky books in my dresser that I haven't read yet, and that's one of them.
i'm interested. then again i signed up for marxisthayaca's reading group years ago and literally did none of the reading, so i might be a flake.
i wanna join. i'm not strictly speaking an anarchist but i promise i won't be annoying.
idk how reading groups work so idk if it's something you "join" or not.
@notthenameiwant let me and @RedCloud on /c/Literature which book you'd like to set up and your given time schedule and we'll be happy to help. We can even designate someone with the instructor role for self-management.
Will do! I'm gonna set up a ranked choice poll in the next week to see where we go from here. I want to start this after you folks finish your current book so that we don't conflict too heavily on times.
