This was fun last time, leggo again

I'll start with: libertarians have solid takes ~40-50% of the time and many of them just need to be pushed a step further in their thinking to turn against capitalist oppression along with state oppression. The libright-to-leftist pipeline is stronger than most seem to think it is.

New Atheism did more to stop religion than any communist ever did. I have heard so many horror stories from kids during that time and their insane religious parents and those forms and r/Atheism provided a fantastic spot for kids to rant. Still fuck the intellectuals behind it as the Islamophobia poisoned the movement.

I still have a soft spot for hitchens. He had some repulsive views later in his life but he got me away from religion and interested in Marxism/Socialism.

I'm a bit older, so I recognized the insufferable smugness of the NuAtheists early. Since I was an adult living on my own, I didn't have to deal with folks who were believers in my personal life, so their smugness was enough of a turnoff that I just declined to participate.

What I didn't recognize was the turn they, and the whole "skeptic" movement would take into blind reactionary thought. Now, between them, and having read a bit on British Trots, I'm a lot more skeptical, ironically.

New atheism is a schizmatic off shoot of the conservatism of the day so it had a lot of institutional power behind it. It was always bad and we just didn't know it
