I had this problem before I came out as a trans woman.

Before I came out as trans, I batted 100 hitting on lesbians. In the closet, out of the closet, butch, femme, the whole spectrum. Of course none of us ever ended up dating, but in casual conversation I was unanimously the "boy" that they said they'd date if they ever wanted to date a boy.
