I believe they will find him guilty, and more likely than not of murder. While cops protect their own, Derek Chauvin became the poster child for "bad cops" and his actions were so egregious that they made millions of Americans question the institution of policing, even if only for a moment. It's more important for the center and right (and cops themselves) to protect the police as an institution than to protect every cop. Furthermore, Minnesota has what might be the single most progressive Attorney General in America (Keith Ellison). The prosecution won't throw this case like the coverup artist in the Breonna Taylor case.

There are numerous cops testifying against Chauvin in this case. It's easier to throw him to the wolves and say "see, we get rid of the bad apples" than to protect the one man who has done more damage to police in America than anyone else. Liberals will cite this as an example of the system working and increase police budgets as a response. The right will hold what's ultimately a minor L and move on.

Cops are a mob, and you can't make the mob look bad. You do that, you sleep with the fishes etc.
