The topic you brought up was "unsavory service" a kid was pressed into. Plenty of people who survive the Shoa and Holocaust did it precisely by having other people claiming to be their parents.
My grandmother was a kid herself (blue eyed, blond) during that time and was downstairs to another family while there was a check by the Nazis, the daughter of a Jewish family took her place so she would not get deported. The parents were deported at some point, though and likely died in KZ Sachsenhausen.
She would later be fetched by people the parents knew, but her fate is not known to us, even after having my grandmother being a contemporary witness and working together with survivors of the Shoa.
The point is that even before the Shoa it wasn't uncommon for Jewish parents who had kids to try to safe their offspring's lives and hid them during pogroms with Christians, but the Ghetto was a bad place and to include one venue of potential escape framed as unsavory is bad.
