Highly recommend (re)learning cursive! I wouldn’t write at all if I was still using block letters. Takes a year and a day just to write a single paragraph
Capitalists will sell the hot, trans waifus used to destroy them
Huh, figured you'd need an ADR for them.
Had pretty strong issues with it on a first read. It felt like there was far too many location specific plot points with characters needing to align themselves just so (to the point it almost felt slapstick).
That said, I just found my copy over the holidays and plan to give it another shot
Fun fact, those glasses are very similar to the gorilla glass that we use on phone screens
No worries :) one of the better kept secrets in selling short stories for sure
When I was first publishing short stories, the best single piece of advice I received was to use thegrinder.diabolicalplots.com It's a repository of (most) journals and magazines that publish short stories/novellas. Definitely skews more SFF than strictly literary, but it was truly revolutionary in getting my stories to actual publications. I think it does poetry as well, but poetry was always way too difficult for me lol.
Also, if you want someone to beta read your stories just shoot me a DM and I'll be happy to provide feedback/tips :) Good luck, and don't get discouraged by rejections in the beginning!
No one dislikes flowers. They’re literally evolutionarily pretty
Hot take: I flatly refuse to take seriously any article about Lenin which reference David "Fucking" Eddings in it.
I don't care if the reference is relevant, irrelevant, or satirical, the man doesn't bear mentioning in the same context. It's about as relevant as referencing Auntie Anne in an article about the UHC CEO. Sure, he may have enjoyed her corporation's pretzel preparation.... but who the fuck cares?
Fuck that pharmacist, drain on human decency. Don’t ever feel feel bad to get your medication
That makes a lot of sense. No one was complaining about the animated movie, and I’m sure it still gets revenue since it’s actually good
Nope, which is what makes her writing so unique. Show don’t tell is the standard way of doing things, but LeGuinn often verges into tell for large chunks. Highly recommended reading The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, if you want to see how crazy she can get with it!
They’re also pretty hard reads for kids though. No one does tell, don’t show like LeGuin… but definitely not a style you can consume as easily
only 72 comments? come on everyone, those are rookie numbers
I'm a former rower, though not the one you were DMing previously. Long story short, you don't want to row at a high resistance, especially when you're getting started. Very easy to throw your back out already, and the higher resistance only makes that more likely.
I favor the air based machines over the water ones as they're much easier to move around, stand upright out of the way, and literally can't leak.
More important than anything though, please please please watch a rowing technique video (or ten). It's mostly leg and core that move the boat, not arms.
I'll shoot you a DM, should you have other questions too :)
Excellent! Since you are better, then you can show it with your actions :)
Perhaps, but that shouldn’t be your goal imo. Engaging in intelligent dialogue is almost always more appealing than seeing someone debase themself. You can be better :) I believe in you
Palm rolling in its grave. Such a great os that just chopped up and sold :(
