  • Hey, sorry to break this to you guys but I think you should know the truth.

The universe is actually a simulation run by highly advanced alien AI in order to prove that a group of monkeys given enough time would eventually be able to write shakespeare. Or at least something similar. They developed the universe to prove that inanimate matter, given enough time, would eventually make an exact copy of a very popular movie they have. That movie is "Sonic The Hedgehog" (2020) which is why everything has gone to shit since 2020.

The alien scientists are just having their version of a drinking party since they already got the data. Universe is gonna end in about 12 hours their time. Which means something like 1.7×10^106 earth years so it doesn't change anything for humanity as by then all the suns will be dead and we'll mostly be in heat death anyway. Thought you should know.

  • I found an exploit in the code and I've just been using it to randomly shift values of data every now and then causing consistent but unpredictable results.

It's a concept in chaos theory called synchronicity. Sometimes it shifts the data out of place, causing slowdowns in higher amounts. But eventually it shifts back into place. Or given enough time, an even better place for the performance of the site. I figured blind evolution would be a quicker path to stability as opposed to slow design. The growing pains suck though I'll admit.

I hear that explanation often, but then they’ll turn around and speak authoritatively about that country, as though they’re “from there”.

Americans speak authoritatively about everything. It's not unique to places where their family is from. Almost every American could speak confidently on what is wrong in the middle east despite not claiming heritage or even reading a single book on the area. I think you're connecting two unrelated traits here.

Americans whenever somebody asks a question about another country: “I dont live there, but…” Americans when someone asks if someone from country X is on this site: “I’m not from country X, but…” Americans when they meet someone from another country: “Oh you’re from [other country]? Me too!”

Maybe I missed something but this seems like the exact instance in they'd say "Oh you're from *Insert European Country, My family is from there!" It's not an attempt to claim citizenship or anything. When Yanks say "I'm Irish/German" they don't mean it in the same an Irish or German person would. It's a cultural misunderstanding, like the difference between American "quite" and British "quite". It can cause friction because the same words mean different things to different people.

The reason most yanks like telling people the origin of their ancestors is not some attempt at claiming that heritage, it's because its a conversation starter and genealogy is a fun hobby. Almost exactly equivalent to saying "Hey my grandad met FDR once."

The only time they think about it is when they bring it up in conversation and maybe when they go to a local celebration like St.Patrick's Day.

  • N64 to Ps1 era, not really. I've played a few but the it doesn't feel like they've figured out 3d games yet. PS2 and up is great.

I love 16 and 8 bit though. I emulate old snes and nes games instead of playing shitty mobile games. Since I don't want to spend money on an actual mobile console, I just play older games on my phone. But I wouldn't consider them worth emulating on my main computer in place of my free gaming time.
