Imo the corona virus so clearly demonstrates that liberal democracy is bourgeois dictatorship. It is not the protection of human life or even the economy that is prioritised, but the narrow interests of the capitalist class.
Not that there is no concern for human life among some people in western governments, just that the whole system is set up to make it nigh impossible to actually go against the interests capitalist class.
In the West, before the government does anything, it has to negotiate with the business sector. I find this to be unimaginable in China. As a company, as a capitalist, you can make money, but if the CPC says 'jump' you better ask how high.
In the West, the bourgeoisie made obscene amounts of money while the proletariat is left in pergatory with the virus still around and no economic opportunities. In China, people are having giant pool parties and the economy is already recovering.
Whether China is socialist or not , it is clear that they have a considerable amount of control over capitalists, which is completely unimaginable in the West. Because whether it is the Dems, Repubs or any other western party in power, they always answer to the bourgeoisie not the people.
This is because the characterisation is so good. It doesn't really matter if a scene really has a purpose within the larger plot, as long as it illustrates how the different characters interact.
Even the 'lesser' seasons are still a joy because the characters are so great.
