To be honest I do look back on this thing with rose colored glasses a little because I read it originally when I was like 12 and thought 'wow cool science stuff! I didn't know about any of this and its way cooler than actual harry potter!' (I didn't like hp then either lmao if only I knew) but I do still sincerely believe that humans are super irrational by default and that its a good thing to try and work on that, and despite all the other shitty stuff I continue to appreciate HPMOR for giving me that idea. I don't think it's infallible or can supersede morality or make bad people just decide to not be bad anymore, but I guess I do still have a lib fantasy of being able to convince people that racism/misogyny/capitalism etc are bad purely by the strength of the argument

His goal at the end of the book is to prevent all human death, which sure that doesn't reconcile class struggle or anything but I think as far as goals go its pretty good.
