Please, if you dont want to participate in the forms, be so kind and DONT participate in it. And dont bash others for beeing not an linux elitist that only touches FOSS stuff. The last point is a “pun” a “joke” or in german a “witz”. If you dont understand it and only search tinfoil conspiracy theories than please not here. If you are really that deep invested into alliens that want to learn about your species by spying onto you through non FOSS software, then please dont use the internet, go out, have friends and put your tinfoil where it belongs, as a wrapper for some cooking.
Wow, admin's reply to someone explaining why using Microsoft Forms for survey might not be the greatest idea.
NixOS has much more packages, and they are more up to date. Honestly, it is a shame because there are many things about Guix I prefer (especially its license). Also, if you are a developer, it is really nice getting to use nix flakes to set up your development environments.
I use foot with fish, currently no plugins (fish defaults are really nice), for development neovim and my OS is NixOS.
Yeah, it always infuriates me whenever I see someone opening a pull request/issue with how this repo should use some “real” open source license like MIT instead of GPL/AGPL.
Don't forget about AGPL that basically solves this issue with GPL.
Sent a little, hope it helps. Good luck.
It is probably because you can get .ml domain for free. But also it fits.
I also have an account on lemmygrad, and it almost never happens. You very rarely see someone commenting from lemmy who isn't comrade or banned soon.
I would say that is partially due to the difference in culture. The posts here are quite different from those on lemmy.
Nope, it is just one domain name that if I remember correctly can be obtained for free. It is commonly used by such projects, both lemmygrad.ml and lemmy.ml use it.
Lemmygrad is ML which is another instance that federates with lemmy.ml. Lemmy.ml is the place with the biggest influx from users from reddit.
To be honest, so far it has been better than I expected. I also have an account on Lemmygrad and yeah there are definitely more libs than normally, but also some new comrades. Basically, it is like five people doing everything and fighting with people from Lemmygrad.
Probably the most annoying part of how federation work is that you cannot see posts from people your instance banned. So it is impossible to comment on people banned from Lemmygrad, so their posts become really infested.
Overall, the reddit downfall looks pretty promising.
To be honest, I don't think I've even seen screen saver since like 2008. Although, it might be fun to set up something like hollywood as screen saver at work. I wonder how long before someone accuses me of hacking our network.
Yes, but it is not only them. At one point I've also been thinking about getting HTC Vive, and technically it is possible to get it working (at least about a year ago) but it had so many caveats that it wasn't worth it. Due to VR still being pretty niche activity and VR companies being some of the most anti FOSS there are not many options apart from Valve Index.
Mainly, it is much easier to config. Sudo has loads of options that you probably won't ever use, especially on your desktop if you have just a single user.
Personally, I really enjoy it. Apart from the "I switched to this distro because it has nicer buttons" or whatever. I love tinkering and trying out obscure software and learning something from it. Plus, it can often be better. This is exactly how I switched from sudo to doas.
It won't or at least not in the same way. Wayland only defines a protocol for screen lockers, and how you implement it is up to the programs themselves.
There certainly are very useful applications for IoT. For example, at my house it regulates heating. It probably saved like 30% on my heating, with the added bonus that every room is the exact temperature I want. Of course, this is all done locally on Home Assistant. If I can at all avoid it, I don't want any IoT device that connects to someone else's cloud.
