I obviously don't have any sympathy for these demonstrators, but I really am annoyed/disturbed by the huge drive by liberals to frame it as "terrorism." Do people really not get how easily that gets turned around? I hate that word.

And impeachment is just a terrible idea, strategically speaking. Trump is already on the way out, a symbolic impeachment would just further convince the right that this is a deep state coup.

There is of course a balance between being /r/socialism or the other undesirable pole of being /r/stupidpol, but I don't think anyone was asking for these policies like getting rid of downvotes or trying to address the pressing issue of downvote imbalances. Nobody's against banning outright chuds (at least once they stop being entertaining), but I think once one starts talking about how ChaCha of all places (one of the most trans-friendly boards on the internet) is "unsafe," one starts to sound like the "closing the sub as a joke wasn't ok" or "stop making fun of virgins" guys. It's not "literally animal farm," but it is tiresome and not how most people want to waste a few spare hours online. Which is all that posting is, at the end of the day.

CTH was like the anti-/r/socialism. The latter was filled with carelords and people who took themselves incredibly seriously, had the same 500 arguments about Kronstadt every day, and ultimately cannibalized itself to death with things like banning the word stupid or removing their banner because they found out the artist who did it had also drawn catgirls at some point. CTH, at its best, was a place where you could just go to shitpost and laugh about twitter drama without the same old stupid infighting and dweebs. This site seems to be determined to get rid of all of that and model itself after some catty Trot campus club.

edit: oh and seriously, a 36 page posting criminal code? lmao :colin-powell-with-book:

  • I mean that might technically be the case, but I imagine at that point that one's weight would get in the way of said manual labor and Olympic athletics. The fact is that any doctor in the world would put "maintaining a healthy weight" alongside "quit smoking" at the top of their lifestyle recommendations. Anything else is just :amerikkka: AmeriKKKope.

Obesity is a social crisis created by capitalism. Negationism on that point is not fundamentally different from the people who say climate change is natural and not that bad.

It's honestly a pretty good game, speaking as someone who didn't follow any of the hype or coverage before release and went in blind, with no expectations other than it being a crpg (I should also note that I'm playing on PC). The main quests are good. On the other hand, I fully agree that it should have been delayed a few more months. The traffic AI is the biggest issue imo.

  • Weird place to ask about this, I know, but I know we have some blue collar workers here, or at least the old CTH did. How does one go about picking and getting started in a skilled trade? All of my family went to college, but it's simply not working out for me. I went my entire life assuming I would go through college, so I have no knowledge about how to start a career otherwise. Would the state AFL-CIO be a good place to start? Could I contact a local of say, the IBEW and ask if I could talk to someone about what their job is like?
