Art means something but the reasons people pay for it are to 1. use it (usually by displaying it) and 2. to show support for the artist. It's hard to sell digital art based on 1 when the piece is nearly infinitely reproducible by anyone able to interact with it (without bringing in intellectual property laws) and 2 is called donation.

Crypto Art is an interesting marketing ploy to drive donations to digital artists targeted towards people who respond less positively to the straightforward idea of donating to an artist they like, but that's about it.

I'd say selling art only means anything to the extent that owning art means anything and that owning art only means anything to the extent that the art being owned is scarce. Crypto Art only makes sense if you consider the specific NFT itself to be the art and not the associated image, but most people care about art in order to display it and it's not clear how to display a NFT or what's stopping me from creating new NFTs for pieces I didn't make and pointing to them as proof I own the art.

I also liked the ambiguity that glados might not have necessarily been an evil rogue AI but was forced to play that role by whoever was in charge of the experiment and just put her spin on it. After posting this thread https://hexbear.net/post/82174 I finally went ahead and made an appointment with my GP to get referred to a psychiatrist. I started keeping a note on my phone about possible symptoms and memories of things that might have been related to undiagnosed ADHD as I think of them. I also just spoke to my friend who also got diagnosed as an adult last year about their experience and after that I'm fairly convinced I do have it. Problem is, the appointment with my GP is in 2 weeks and no idea how long it will be until I'll be able to see the psychiatrist after I get a referral. I feel like I'm now aware I'm in Plato's cave but know I won't even be able to start leaving for at least 2 weeks. It's hard to not think about all the lost time.
