DasKarlBarx has a very good point down below about the reality of what happens when you create a single large place for people to recover (harder for them to ever leave). Suggests what you do actually Society_Liver, smaller places, all next to essential resources being a better set up. Seems mall conversion into housing is more of a cool dystopia idea that a true way forward to help our homeless.

No, those are really good points. You have the experience to bring up valid concerns that come from relative experience. That could save this idea and help work to make it a reality with enough problem solving.

Okay can we talk about this though. I'm so mad. Like I spent the past week making a playlist full of folksy union songs from pre 1950 and I'm so mad about what country music is now opposed to Pete seeger was putting out. Idk if it counts as like. True country. But I'm still angy. 😾

On this note along with @bazingabrain arts are the place to be but there's a sweet stop. The closer you get to it mingling with consumption and product the more ghoulish people get. For example anyone trying to turn their art into a major hustle. Which creates a bit of a weird space at times because that means you need to find folks doing this for fun, that have the TIME to be doing it for fun. There are outliers obviously, I've met some nice people trying to make money off their artistic endeavors, but arts/craft is more of a correlation than a sure fire if that makes sense

When I was in high school I started jogging regularly, and I learned the hard way to take days off to avoid injuries, but another thing I learned years later when I became a real gym rat was that my knees were just shit. Doctor said I needed to build my muscle in my joints because I simply didn't have enough cushion between my bones and joints or avoid injury. I couldn't take the high impact of concrete no matter how good my shoes were. (I mean, I was a college student and couldn't afford a pair over $60 as a treat..). So an idea might just be 1. Take every other day off and work another set of muscles in rotation, and 2. Do not skip building up your joints, build you ankles, knees, wrists, elbows etc. They're very important, no matter how beefy your calves and thighs are you joints have to be able to take the strain.

  • How old your kid is does make a difference, but he sounds young (I'm living for the cat ears and Dino PJs ). As a trans young adult with parents who were "tolerant" but not accepting, what you've already shared (if true) is amazing. I'd say to stay vigilant and open as you are. You ask them daily what their new identity is! This is amazing, you've left it open for him to decide. Naturally as they get older, they will have more to build their identity on and share those feelings. Just ensure he knows that what he feels is what matters. Because what Kristina says I also resonate with, puberty made things very complex for me and my mental health tanked, so I think that's a big mile stone you'll want to make sure you and your kids are prepared for, and have plenty of discussions about those changes, what they will be and if they want to avoid them for a while with say hormone blockers if possible.
