Or are they trying to imply they wanted to cover COVID up? Kind of irrelevant at this point since they plainly handled it better than the US either way. Even the dongs that suggest they fake their numbers still have to cope with the fact that if they had the level of death and disruption we did, they wouldn't have been the only country whose GDP grew in 2020 -- it would not have been possible.

I wonder what the exact rumour was but also it's understandable not to spread said rumour while talking about it.

I made the mistake of commenting on an x-post of this while I was high last night and now I'm getting fresh new flavors of brainworms delivered directly to my inbox.
Somehow got people to at least lament that the US didn't take more "authoritarian" anti-covid measures like China at the beginning of the pandemic, so maybe I removed a couple brainworms from some people. I'm gonna tell myself I did so the psychic damage feels worth it.
