Reading through that it's wild how quickly Ada goes to bat against hexbear but staunchly defends actual wreckers like mindtraveler who doesn't even post on blahaj outside of the drama surrounding them.

Hexbear is very inclusive to trans people that align with its ideology, but it actively allows harassment and “dunking” of anyone, including trans people, who don’t align with its ideology. In my opinion, it’s hard to be the most inclusive trans instance when you are only inclusive of some trans people, and are willing to harass the rest

Hexbear is incredibly protective of trans folk that share its views, but it green lights active harassment of trans folk not in that group.

An instance that is ok with harassment of some trans folk isn’t as protective as you’re claiming.

Rather than just banning trans folk who don’t align with their politics, or targeting their political ideas, Hexbear actively enables dogpiling and harassing of individual trans folk

That’s not the behaviour of “the most trans positive instance”, especially given that Hexbears political ideology is fringe at best, making the majority of trans people valid targets for its harassment.

Don’t get me wrong. Hexbear is incredibly supportive of its trans folk. It’s why I tried to make federation with them work for so long. But it’s only supportive of its own trans folk. If you don’t align with their political stance, you get harassment, not support.

She keeps bringing up the dunk tank but it reads like she's actually just making things up at this point. The dunk tank explicitly has a rule now to not target small users with low engagement. And a rule to not specifically target other instance admins and mods.

Hell, looking through the first ten pages of the top posts in the last year

The posts involving lemmy users that aren't explicitly disagreeing with our politics are:

    10 anti-hexbear posters

2 posts saying ukranians dying is a good thing actually

1 both sides argument about nazis

1 person saying poor people can't be on the internet

1 post about .world defedding with lemmygrad

1 post about misinformation regarding north/south korea

1 pseudo intellectual nerd crying about emojis

1 example of ableism from 196 mods

1 person disagreeing with a lemmy dev's politics on a community dedicated to harassing lemmygrad posters.

1 loser coming up with their own definition of socialism

1 temporarily embarrassed millionaire saying bees don't make money actually

of these there are 3 people who may be trans/from blahaj. Those three are someone who is anti-hexbear, someone who is anti-hexbear and thinks we don't actually have trans users, and the 196 mod directing ableism towards one of our admins.

the posts that are explicitly lemmy posters disagreeing with our politics are:

    1 pro nato poster

    1 person crying about communists

1 person crying after being told to post hog

1 person just being anti-hexbear again but with politics

and 1 trans no steppy snake flag

Of these 5, only 1 is from a trans user/blahaj.

seeing ada react like this only strengthens my resolve to leave that place.

  • Fr even Nevada explored the idea in the second part. I won't spoil exactly how it goes down but the book even acknowledges that the "dangers" of pushing the idea someone might be trans are overblown. It's not like there's a point of no return, you don't have to commit to keep taking HRT, detransitioning is always an option (even though a vast majority of detransitioners do so for reasons OTHER THAN A FALSE DIAGNOSIS).

There's nowhere near this amount of pushback for other queer identities. It's mainstream for "maybe you're gay/bi/lesbian" to be a punchline. If one were to make the same joke but with transness it would not fly even with supposed allies. It's so goddamn stupid.

I may be weird but personally I saw the ending as sorta optimistic even before I heard about the theory that the pink opaque is just starting a new season (S06E01 or w/e).

The weight of suffocation by inaction is weighing down on Isabel/Owen enough that she finally externalizes it again for the first time since being told by Tera/Maddy about the Midnight Realm, screaming for help and yelling that she's dying but nobody can hear her/relate. While it's an incredibly isolating event it leads to her realizing that nobody else is going to help her so she has to help herself, she has to do something, she can't just stagnate like she's done for 40 years. I saw the scene in the bathroom as her finally confronting what Tera/Maddy said and seeing that, yeah, she was right. Owen's body isn't her body. What she felt before about her insides being ripped out and replaced was right.

I feel that the very last scene was written to be as open to interpretation as possible with the knowledge of what had just unfolded but I saw it as the start of Isabel's new beginning/escape.

Personally I didn't get the same emotional reaction to the movie that a lot of other people seemed to get, but that may be because of how I see myself and where I am in my own transition. However, I think that if this movie had come out before I started to transition I'd have a stronger reaction.

  • I can't stress enough how much a wide toothed comb helped with keeping frizz somewhat manageable as another curly girly.

Checkout the curlyhair comm on reddit, they usually have good recs.

As for oil, as someone with high porosity 2B-2C sometimes 3A hair (leans closer to wavy), I had decent success with Jojoba oil as it's very light and has similar properties to sebum. I also really like using Tsubaki Oil and though I'm not entirely sure it's doing anything for my frizz, it leaves my hair incredibly soft.

Also i find tying my hair up in a bun overnight keeps it more manageable in the morning.

  • Actually you don't have to tell doctors anything. Just keep getting him to do labs every few months until you're happy with the numbers.

I want to do this but I have to rely on him to keep my prescription refills up. I definitely could do this if i switch to DIY though.

This doesn't make any sense to me. Why would the injections be different if you did them in different place?

He said it was to make sure I'm using the correct technique for injection but my partner has been doing them for me and she's had actual classes for injection techniques (?) so I dunno what his problem is.
