    blahaj instance

I made a post on the trans blahaj comm about how the mega here got 3k comments and it was very highly upvoted, of course it attracted a ton of transphobic trolls (who likely aren't trans, shocker) that don't get removed and Ada is talking about how its cool and good to include fascist and exclusionary trans people in the comments because Hexbear is mean to them, oh and also being a socialist trans person is fringe, apparently. New to me!

Honestly 50/50 on just using the account I made here way back but haven't really used. I like checking in on everyone but it seems that all the other LGBT spots on fedi are ghost towns or filled with clowns. Occasionally theres like, one small thread on blahaj thats good.

the one about the blue shark

it was actually a good thing we defederated from them, and this is one of the reasons. if you cant keep your trans instance free from chasers and transphobes (but i repeat myself) then what the actual fuck are you even doing?

        spoiler

At this point it honestly feels like they're trying their hardest to drive trans people away from the fediverse. Lie about the largest trans instance, say you are the most supportive trans instance because you let in nazi and racist trans people and try not to hurt their feelings, then you let chasers, transphobes, and trolls harass all the people that get lured there via being the default lgbt place on some app.

it's sad how we have the best place for trans people on the internet and one of the worst right on the same platform, technically.

Reading through that it's wild how quickly Ada goes to bat against hexbear but staunchly defends actual wreckers like mindtraveler who doesn't even post on blahaj outside of the drama surrounding them.

Hexbear is very inclusive to trans people that align with its ideology, but it actively allows harassment and “dunking” of anyone, including trans people, who don’t align with its ideology. In my opinion, it’s hard to be the most inclusive trans instance when you are only inclusive of some trans people, and are willing to harass the rest

Hexbear is incredibly protective of trans folk that share its views, but it green lights active harassment of trans folk not in that group.

An instance that is ok with harassment of some trans folk isn’t as protective as you’re claiming.

Rather than just banning trans folk who don’t align with their politics, or targeting their political ideas, Hexbear actively enables dogpiling and harassing of individual trans folk

That’s not the behaviour of “the most trans positive instance”, especially given that Hexbears political ideology is fringe at best, making the majority of trans people valid targets for its harassment.

Don’t get me wrong. Hexbear is incredibly supportive of its trans folk. It’s why I tried to make federation with them work for so long. But it’s only supportive of its own trans folk. If you don’t align with their political stance, you get harassment, not support.

She keeps bringing up the dunk tank but it reads like she's actually just making things up at this point. The dunk tank explicitly has a rule now to not target small users with low engagement. And a rule to not specifically target other instance admins and mods.

Hell, looking through the first ten pages of the top posts in the last year

The posts involving lemmy users that aren't explicitly disagreeing with our politics are:

      10 anti-hexbear posters

2 posts saying ukranians dying is a good thing actually

1 both sides argument about nazis

1 person saying poor people can't be on the internet

1 post about .world defedding with lemmygrad

1 post about misinformation regarding north/south korea

1 pseudo intellectual nerd crying about emojis

1 example of ableism from 196 mods

1 person disagreeing with a lemmy dev's politics on a community dedicated to harassing lemmygrad posters.

1 loser coming up with their own definition of socialism

1 temporarily embarrassed millionaire saying bees don't make money actually

of these there are 3 people who may be trans/from blahaj. Those three are someone who is anti-hexbear, someone who is anti-hexbear and thinks we don't actually have trans users, and the 196 mod directing ableism towards one of our admins.

the posts that are explicitly lemmy posters disagreeing with our politics are:

      1 pro nato poster

      1 person crying about communists

1 person crying after being told to post hog

1 person just being anti-hexbear again but with politics

and 1 trans no steppy snake flag

Of these 5, only 1 is from a trans user/blahaj.

seeing ada react like this only strengthens my resolve to leave that place.

I just read through that thread and the responses from ada in particular are so embarrassing

supporting trans comrades != shielding all trans users from any criticism

And this is true even of lib spaces, like you cannot just have a "nobody gets comments removed or account bans" rule for all trans people.

The water here is quite nice. Migrated over from lemm.ee less than a month ago and am much happier with my relationship with social media in general.

And love all of the support I find in this thread in particular. So much in fact I got teared up just saying that.

I never heard anything good about blahaj so when I was looking for a space for my wife and I hexbear was the only one that seemed to align with our values.
