I was a teenager when I found out about trans people existing, and I genuinely asked myself if that is something that applies to me. Now I am amab, and could never really identify with the machismo view of masculinity that I at least feel defined the culture around me. But of course there are other forms, other ways to express yourself. Identifying and being seen as a man has never felt wrong to me and while I can imagine what other situations feel like, I can't attest that it would be in any way accurate. I don't really know what it means when someone tells me they feel like a woman, or non-binary or honestly even like a man. That's fine though, I trust others when they tell me these things are very important to them and when it comes to trans people (who sadly have to fight to get the basic acceptance that they deserve) honestly am glad that I never had the same struggle.

I identify as cis. I talked about this topic with my partner (who is trans) and he told me he wasn't sure if I wasn't agender or something, but that just doesn't feel like a label I can identify myself with either. I think I just don't identify with my societies narrow view of masculinity and just do things the way I like them and the way they feel right to me.

Confession Time: I love Junji Ito and will definitely watch this but.. I don't think I've ever found any of his stuff actually scary. Creepy for sure, but I never walked away from any of his stories with any uneasy feeling. Maybe manga/anime just isn't the right medium for me to be creeped out, because a lot of horror movies have worked. I mostly appreciate Ito for the great art and how good he is at using that art to create an eerie mood.

  • Makes sense, it's the male socialization that really determines if someone will ever be good at jungling.

What is even the point being made, I get that it's a good idea to have competitions only for women, but what could be a possible reason to ban trans women other than to think that they have some inherent advantage against cis women at.. clicking buttons. I swear these Terfs will agree to any sexist idea about how much worse (cis) women are at things, as long as it can be used to bash trans women.

  • Yeah, I think a lot of the discrepancy from the critic and audience score of the Mario movie comes from the movie being made specifically to cater to kids and adults that like Nintendo games. That audience largely enjoyed it (and was probably most of the people that went to the movie), while critics were of course more mixed and for good reasons.

  • I'm pretty sure the catholic church doesn't teach that the earth is 7000 years old (at least not these days), I think that's mostly a weird American thing. When it comes to accepting science it's a lot better than a good chunk of American churches. That's not to defend the catholic church obviously, the only reason I'm not listing why they are awful is because it would come with too many trigger warnings.
