  • Racism against Indigenous people in Canada is so fucked up and pervasive. Literally yesterday they also found a 17 year old kid dead in his own closet in his group home after being reported missing four days earlier. Terribly underfunded social services across Canada regardless of who you are, but especially for Indigenous folks, its a total disaster 😞 https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/first-nation-youth-death-1.5743707

I'm not sure how it fits into this specific issue, since there are a lot of lib men who use this line of argumentation too, but the whole "return to civility" in politics is something that early forms of feminism had a lot of. I feel like you're right that the lib drive overall towards politics of respectability isn't necessarily always a gendered thing. But the attempts to stifle loud leftists (and historical representations of Jewish men as particularly 'loud' and 'abrasive') are real shitty

I started university in an IR program. Switched out to an interdisciplinary human rights program thankfully. Disgusting way for neolibs and war hawks to instill their ideologies in the youth under the guise of "learn about politics!"

Homies of mine played with them. Ever heard of sixbrewbatha? victoria BC ultimate grinders. Good dudes, good politics, vicious tunes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBafkfzYu0g&t=121s

  • Fantastic band with good politics. Incredible live show too. Their newer ep "Where Were You On 9/11" is awesome too. Vocalist behind the band has been targeted by various federal and state police and security forces trying to get him on terror-related stuff for daring to have a punk band using the Arabic language

  • I really like the in-your-face racial politics, dig a lot of the acting, and they do a great job with the spooky setting. I'm a little disappointed with a lack of building suspense or world-building though. The show seems to jump from event to event with very little denouement or exploration of what the consequences of those events may be. I get that it's been adapted from a book of short stories, but it just seems a little frantic at times. Glad it's getting some traction though!
