A left oriented friend of mine posted photos of Ritenhouse chud guy with a caption along the lines of "see? not boogaloo". I recognize that there are differences between straight up wannabe cop bootlickers and boogaloo, but especially as a Canadian who hasn't encountered these people, I don't think I understand what these boogaloos are all about and whether they're shit. Please help me

there's this movie from 1984 called "breakin 2: electric boogaloo" which is infamous for being an overly stereotypical 80s movie, but more importantly for having a funny name that rhymes. in the early 2010s people rediscovered it and started making memes along the lines of "_______ 2: electric boogaloo" and eventually 4chan neo nazis and would-be proud boys found it and started making "civil war 2: electric boogaloo" memes and threads where they fantasized about killing all the people they think are destroying america, such as leftists, liberals, and of course black people. the boogaloo movement isn't really an organized thing, but just something that overly online reactionaries like to joke about, and sadly once in a while act upon.

the hawaiian shirts are from boogaloo boys playing around with the word boogaloo and eventually arriving at the phrase "big luau" to use as a corny dog whistle. again, it's just memes - not that we shouldn't take it seriously, but it's really not an organization; to try to analyze it as an organization would be like the chuds who are trying to hunt down antifa leaders, which of course is nonsense because that also isn't an organization.

They don't really have a specific set of beliefs outside of guns are good, federal agents with guns are bad. They fetishise civil unrest and violent resistance against the state, and are all eager for excuses to get to shoot people. They have a million esoteric in-jokes. They used to be polititically somewhat neutral, but because most people in the US are right wing, naturally more right wing people ended up part of that community. Eventually chuds took over the community entirely, and for a few years now they constantly make references to the "boogaloo" being some sort of race war, and that they are thus itching for excuses to shoot minorities.

They still don't have anything approaching a coherent set of beliefs, they tend to be rather nihilistic and actively mock and shun anyone who tries to have a serious discussion about anything.

boogs have a range of beliefs and motivations. they're all some flavor of wanting mass civil unrest. some want big government to go away, and they want to kill feds/cops to make it happen. some want a race war. some seem to even sympathize with BLM earnestly.

Here's an article co-written by Robert Evans: https://www.bellingcat.com/news/2020/05/27/the-boogaloo-movement-is-not-what-you-think/

It seems like most online things, it's hard to tell what draws different people and how genuine they are, but the main goal is a new civil war along race lines, so whether they're shit seems pretty unambiguous. Robert Evans gave a probably appropriately confusing summary on an episode of Q Anon Anonymous.

I know about "Civil War 2: Electric Boogaloo" and getting ready for the boogaloo and all that, but I've never actually seen a "boogaloo boy" outside of second hand rumors from concerned left-leaning folks. Is this an actual thing? I haven't trolled /pol/ in a month so it might be new?

A misconception is that Boog boys are white supremacists. They are not, which is why you'll see them blend into BLM protests. They are hardcore ancaps which means they hate cops just as much as us, but at the same time they love small business so they will roof korean larp and shoot people who do property destuction.

See this is maybe where I was getting confused. Seems to me if you're going to shoot people for property destruction at a BLM protest, you're probably a piece of shit
