Is it unpopular? I'm witnessing a huge increase in ambient transphobia. I think most of it is unexamined and doesn't have real commitment behind it, but that's not any different than most peoples' political inclinations.

In my experience, Boomer libs (the only base democrats actually pander to) are pretty transphobic.

Criminalizing gender affirming care seems to be crossing the line for them, but they’re pretty TERF-y about inclusivity.

I've seen some polls suggesting it is pretty unpopular. Lots of blue seats were won againdt major transphobes these last two years in some surprising places. I also think anecdotally having to hear anyone irl harp on about trans hate or LGBT hate is extremely off-putting for everyone. Most of my family is right wing and there is only 1 person in my whole extended family that will randomly bring up trans issues and everyone tells them to shut up lol. It's just not a real concern for a lot of people.

The thing is too is this type of hate is way more prevalent online, we've been bombarded with it. But when the right has actual sieg heiling nazis showing up to rallies/protests against drag its an extremely bad look for even the less moderate right wingers.

I think it depends too on where you live. Some places are definitely just always going to hafe anyone not cis

More specifically what I'm seeing is a lot of the dudes I interact with making more jokes where the punch line is that trans people exist. It's like I'm living in a 1990s comedy skit. But, like I said, I don't think there's any commitment behind it. They're just hearing a lot more right wing propaganda about trans people and they're not used to finding out that ideas they're used to might not reflect everyone's life and experience.

Yeah absolutely there has been a lot of fucking chuds who've been emboldened by it. But for me personally, I work with a lot of chuds, fam is all chud, I live near chuds and it's just not a pressing issue like so much other stuff I see. But that doesn't matter that much when some of the most powerful people in state governments can push through shit that their base may not give a shit about. They've really been on a crusade and it's fucked no matter how many of their voters actually care.

It depends on a lot of things. The trans athlete ban is probably the most popular one. Everything else like banning transitioning for adults or the Florida trans child laws are unpopular outside of deranged chuds.
