Liberal arts, along with being incredibly necessary for many parts of a functioning society like sociology (right?) and architecture, also grant us the vision to turn gray blobs of laboratories and actuarial super computers into a place worth sticking around for. If you walked around seeing nothing but people in gray uniforms, no make up, no hats, no murals on the walls, no statues, gray slabs on concrete erected everywhere, it would be bleaker. Music would be nothing but metronomes.
