Step 1) make cities more convenient to walk around in.

Step 2) limit traffic in clean air zones to try and lower the incidence of asthma and other respiratory illnesses.

    Step 3) ???

    Step 4) literal 1984.

I genuinely think most folks that unironically invoke 1984 have never read it.

It's a book full of the whinings of a pretentious classist.

There's one part that really stood out to me, where Orwell's stand in character complains that the socialists make everyone use ballpoint pens and that literature has died now that fountain pens are unavailable.

I'll admit no, I haven't read it, but....what is his point there? I cannot understand.

Your guess is as good as mine. It's an aside that comes out of nowhere and is never explained or elaborated on.

Anyone who ever read the damn thing would've figured out it's really not that great of a book and then never invoke it again. Shout out to my man Huxley for painting a dystopia that actually makes sense on a societal level instead of being randomly ruled by the evil people for evil things evilly
