Funny, because I always considered them the "normies" that are ruining nerd culture. Before call of duty, they considered gamers uncool losers.
They quite literally want to gentrify nerd-dom to appeal to white, middle-class, Chrisitian, American tastes and they get angry when there's "freaks" in the fandom. Anything they can't properly infiltrate they'll call cringe like furries that makes all the queerness at the forefront to scare off the normies.
