Adding context to this image. On the left is Kanye "I love Hitler" West. Kanye said he would release a new album called Vultures on December 15, then it was delayed until New Year, then January 12, and now it is TBD. People speculated that the Vultures album cover was a reference to neonazi band Burzum and this new photo with Kanye wearing a burzum tshirt confirms that. Kanye is still saying antisemitic things and went on at least one antisemitic rant in the past month.

Kanye's teeth look weird because this week he spent $750k to install a permanent grill in his mouth that makes him look like Jaws from 007.

On the right is JPEGMafia aka Peggy. JPEGMafia is a self-proclaimed communist, political, experimental hip hop artist. Some JPEGMafia songs that stand out to me are "I wipe my ass with confederate flags" and "I just killed a cop now I'm horny". JPEGMafia is/was a fan of hasanabi and became real life friends; JPEGMafia ate Christmas dinner with Hasan's family in 2021.

4 days ago, JPEGMafia posted a drunken rant on twitter about how he wants to work with Kanye because he only cares about money and Kanye is his hero who inspired him to start making music.

Today, we are given this photo of them working together. I am devastated.

Anyone who actually disappears from the public eye was never really in the public eye anyway. How many artists say that they've been canceled and are still in the public eye? The mainstreaming of the term "cancel culture" and any other related term (woke, social justice, etc, etc) has been greatly damaging. People parrot right wing talking points without even stopping to think what it all means.

I mean, being fair here idk if cancel culture 100% applies like for a "normal" celebrity when Kanye has both now cultivated a bigoted political fanbase but also is basically a mainstream lolcow that people are more interested in having in the spotlight to get entertainment from his outbursts and meltdowns rather than limit the harm he can do to others and himself.

To be clear: My main point is that this should not be the example case you use for if cancel culture is real or not.

Is he really a self-proclaimed communist? 'Communist Slow Jams' has very little communism in it, despite the name.

Late reply but yes, listen to Veteran. He's talked about his politics in some interviews, but it's not really all that straightforward as to say he's some kind of principled leftist who betrayed his ideals to go hang out with a Nazi he happens to admire because of his music. His political views are really a lot more vague and he's never really stated his allegiance to anything. Take that how you will, IMO it's still surprising and disappointing to see him go back on what he's said in his music to this extent but he hasn't exactly hidden that he's a little opportunistic.

He’s always made allusions to it, specifically calling out fascists and reactionaries including Kanye in his music. I’m so sad abt this, never expected this sort of behavior from the guy who said “you’re third reich IM STALIN”

It's not a grill, it's a set of dentures basically. Kanye lost all his bottom teeth in the car crash, anyway
