Look, it’s very clear what Biden is going for here.

Biden is showing the bourgeois elites of the country, and especially to the Republican donors, that he is the one who will get the gravy train going after the November election. So, if you’re part of the wealthy donor class, who will you choose?

At this point, merely 3 years into the Biden administration, if you had been a wealthy Republican donor, there is no way that you have not benefited from Biden’s policies. All of the right wingers crying about “Biden’s inflation” are seeing their asset portfolios shooting through the roof. Biden is showing that he has done everything Trump had promised to do yet failed to deliver, and with more to give.

The only thing that the Republicans are missing out on is the billions and billions of Ukraine laundering money, and it’s a Democrat exclusive club only. If you want that slice of the fat, you’re gonna to have to jump over to our side.

This is precisely why a certain segment of Republicans is so vehemently opposed to the Ukraine war, and doing everything they can to block Biden’s funding bill for Ukraine, and why the Ukraine funding will NOT end before the election. It’s a huge carrot worth more than $100 billion dangling in front of the Republican donors to constantly remind them of what they’re missing out.

It’s funny that people still think Biden ever gave a shit about pandering to the voter base, as if democracy is a thing, when everyone knows very well that the US electoral outcome is decided by campaign donors. Once you capture the support of the campaign contributors, you win the game.

What does Trump have? Record profits for the wealthy, ending Covid, anti-immigration, support for the police force, war profiteering - Biden has already done it all in just 3 years, and out-flanking Trump competently from every angle.

Trump only has his culture war stuff to cry about, and that’s what the future of the Republican party will be: a party of culture war fanatics. And it will implode within itself as the crazy MAGA donors chew each other out fighting for the last piece of pork, while the smart ones had already jumped ship to the other side. And you know what, one thing is constant for the bourgeoisie: they love money more than anything. As the campaign contributors continue to abandon the Republican party, it will no longer be able to amass the resources to mount serious campaigns against the Democrats.

Say what you will about Biden, but he is leading America towards a new era. Forget about the America you grew up in - that era is already over. Biden is leading the country into a new stage of American capitalism - the form of capitalism that no longer has to take the mask off for a moment to do the deed, but the capitalism that has decided to free itself by taking the mask off permanently. The final stage of liberal capitalism is always going to end up the same: fascism.

So what are the libs going to do? Become full-throated fascists?

I know a lot of libs, and the one thing that seems to tie them all together is they honestly believe they are the "good" guys. We all see that when they twist themselves into knots trying to defend Israel when they are clearly wrong... are we just going to see more of that but for every ghoulish take Democrats have going forward?

No, they're going to remain what they are - the polite fascists. They do all the same policies, just as civil, adults in the room, making hard decisions, coming together to get things done

The voters do believe that and many try to be that to some extent.

But they give carte blanche to lib politicians, almost all of whom (at the national level) are basically indistinguishable from conservatives of 10 years ago, in part due to what Kaplya describes; they are trying to outflank conservatives from the right, as they always have, but as conservatives get more and more unhinged, so too do dems shift further and further out. And voters desperately try to justify it all, because they don't know what else they can do besides vote.

Look at the rhetoric around immigration now, just 10-15 years ago it was about having sanctuary cities and how inhumane Bush had done it, now liberal politicians just flat out tell the press that 'we have border problems' and 'we need to securitize it', literally 3-5 years or less after they talked about how deranged Trump had been when he was doing the exact same stuff.

Talk to your average Democrat. Go and speak to them or listen to what they have to say. And I don't mean voter, I mean person in the party. They are already there.

The Holocaust wouldn’t have happened if the millions and millions of German libs hadn’t stayed quiet (and even actively collaborated) while the Nazis were shipping Jews and other minorities to the concentration camps.

At the end of the day, you know where the libs will stand. History has already taught us this lesson.

They’re probably genuinely good people when you meet them in person, but that doesn’t mean they won’t stay silent (or even secretly report you to the authorities, because that’s the “right thing to do”) while the fascists are rounding people up. You’ll probably get a “I’m so sorry this is happening” pity from them as you’re being executed.

don't need history when they're saying the genocide denial out loud right now about the Palestinians.

Maybe some of them, but I find it extremely difficult to believe that American bourgeoisie, conservative or not, would consider an alliance with Russia a worthwhile investment.

In many ways, Russia is a direct competitor to the US.

Russia’s military equipment and technology sales threatens the profit margin of US military industrial complex. Russian oil and gas directly compete with the American fossil fuel sector. Russia has developed its own agricultural export sector that could alleviate food insecurity in the Global South, and while it is still not as well developed, still provided a cheap alternative food source to the American ag giants.

But that’s not even the worst yet. Profit margin is one thing, Europe has directly benefited from cheap Russian energy and raw materials which have been instrumental in developing a very competitive tech sector, and in turn allowed the Europeans to compete with the American tech industries. This is bad news for the American capitalists.

And a strong Europe with secured energy and raw material source from Russia is a much bigger threat to the US than Russia ever could be, because what if Europe decides to throw their weight behind China and take down the US empire together? A Europe-Russia-China alliance would have been the worst nightmare for the American imperialists.

Once you see all these connections, then it made sense why Ukraine has to happen. Fighting Russia is really just a side step to prevent Europe from shifting its weight and mutual dependence towards China. That strategic goal is pretty much achieved by this point, even though they had failed to destroy Russia.

The ghoulish part here is that they somehow managed to also turn the Ukraine war into a money making scheme where the war is deliberately prolonged, sacrificing countless Ukrainian and Russian lives just to make their profits grow.

I’ll believe that part about the Republican party’s death when I see it. Democrats have proven for decades now that they’re more competent to the donor class. Everybody thought Pat Robertson’s evangelical movement meant the end of the party, and then Sarah Palin’a Tea Party movement, and now MAGA. That’s not even mentioning the New Deal era when people were convinced it would never have a strong return because of how poorly they performed for almost 20 years.

They’re a cockroach that bounces back every time.
