    You could also have traveled accross the Soviet Union in 1938 and never noticed any GULAG camp. Or visit Nazi Germany during the same year

      Hmm there's soldier's rounding up and abducting all my Jewish neighbours, all their property and business have gone and are run by Germans now and every week there's a new explicit and implicit genocidal law passed... Anyway, probably nothing sinister going on.

      You know you could ask anyone the same thing, take a decent long tour across many cities in the US and try not to notice the biggest prison population in the world.

      Even if somehow you miss all the prisons etc it would still be impossible not to notice the massive police state and obvious racist "incidents" everywhere.
