The thing about a lot of non-Hebrew Jewish names is that they linguistically come from the German language, but are connected, down to their origin point, with Germanophone Jews in Germany, Austria, etc., whether it be a toponym of a medieval town or an early modern ornamental name. "Epstein" is an example of the former, it seems. So the pedantic characterization is also that it's a Jewish name and I reiterate that we should not be connecting every instance of this name which is probably like 900 years old to a particular sex offender.

Isn't this a little like seeing the second name Bond and connecting that with 007?

It will take 2 generations before most people don't see the connection anymore.

Associating a millennium-old Jewish name with pedophilia because of one dude is bad, actually

I get where you're coming from but again, I don't think i'm ever going to see the name Epstein without that association coming to mind. Removing it from our minds is not a conscious action.

People can choose not to post it but everyone's gonna think it and someone that hasn't heard this is gonna haha-reference it every time.

I wasn't arguing in favour of it, merely the point that it's never going to be stoppable.

Wasn't aware that it was in fact Jewish and not just associated with them, probably for the best it was removed
