That's a weird thing to say. I've seen many right wingers who dislike Lenin but like Stalin because they see Stalin as a figure who represents nationalism.

How does those peoples’ (Russians?) views contradict him being the minister for nationalities under Lenin?

I don't know. I don't think they think about it that much. Being a reactionary doesn't require much thought. I have spoken with a few right wing people who live in Russia or other former Soviet Union states, some have told me that they think Stalin is good and Lenin was bad. Another example are the magacommunists and hinkledick.

The other thing is that right wingers don't actually hate the concept of DEI itself. DEI is a dog whistle. Right wingers are racist against black people. "DEI" is a substitute for saying "black people". Right wingers say they hate DEI because it's a safe way for them to signal their racism. Hating Stalin for being the minister of nationalities would not signal racism, so why would they say that?

Imo, the joke goes “PCoN was created to do affirmative action for soviet minorities -> conservatives don’t like that -> it would be funny if, rather than hating Stalin because of anti communism, reactionaries hated him for racism”

Could be wrong tho, either way it’s a joke
