    I'm so mad that housing is such a solvable problem/issue. It's not some nebulous quandary of the soul, it's a very actionable thing we can adress. We never do though, all we do anything other than shuffle human lives around.

      And it’s not even a “we just need to spend the money” thing either, because housing homeless people costs less than letting them live on the streets. This is something that any level of government can solve if they just choose to. The federal government could do it by just using the money printer but also any broke local government can solve homelessness as a cost cutting measure.

        but then how will we justify the giant police departments cities have, and how will we justify their primary function, which is buying off the most violent morons to the side of the capitalists so they don't make trouble?

      We could solve it overnight but America doesn't want to set the precedent of providing basic needs for its populus when you could charge for the service instead.
