I want to "hand it to" the libs about one thing: The still image of tank man is a very good image that very compellingly tells a story about courage and integrity in the fight against faceless brutal oppression.
That story is of course utter bullshit but the image is very iconic.
Years of indocrination to believe in the "democratic vanguard of light that is the west" and appealing to our human instinct of compassion with images like this is a powerful combination. Even NATOpedia correctly states deep down in the article that no one died in the square itself and what happened in general was hardly a massacre, unless you're willing to put the same label on so many things that happen it the west. But the huge majority of people won't do the research when they've already been convinced sentimentally.
