Only 5-6 people? Why the fuck are they even publishing it in a journal? That's how you get pseudo-scientific bullshit: by publishing thing too soon.

Because the samples were obtained from people who were undergoing surgeries related to erectile disfunction. So that limits the amount of samples you can get. It's still very much important to publish that information, even if your sample size is small.

I do think that a rational society would locate a problem like this and invest in solving it, rather than have a handful of scientists drip feed terrifying new theories and discoveries to a sensationalist media intent on scaring the shit out of people. But maybe it’s the only way they can attract funding for more study, I don’t know. I don’t think it’s really useful for people to be hearing about all these crazy environmental poisons - forever chemicals, microplastics, and so on - that are basically impossible to avoid and which no-one yet understands the implications of.

I mean I think there's info coming out about microplastics contributing to heart attacks and strokes by forming clots in the circulatory system, so if we got plastics in our blood and balls it's not too far of a stretch to say we got plastics in our dangle dongles too

Yes I know, I just think I would be a lot happier not knowing. I mean everyone is already riddled with anxiety. At least with politics we can study and understand and exert some agency however small. What can we do about the fact people are pumping our bodies full of plastic for profit? And then when they repeatedly put these articles in the press before they’ve discovered the implications (I mean maybe microplastics cause ED but they’re really just spitballing here) it doesn’t seem to have much social utility

Ignorance is bliss, knowledge is power. Use that power to tell the people capitalism is destroying humanity and that the cure is socialism.

It's the new evolutionary trait being tested in beta right now where balls are being used to generate and store oil instead of just pee. It just takes a while for the plastic to decompose and liquidate.
