"When President Trump invited me to speak at this convention, there was political unrest. On the left and on the right. (It's) hard to believe. Anti-union groups demanded that Trump rescind the invitation. The left called me a traitor. This is precisely why it's so important for me to be here today. Think about this: The Teamsters are doing something correct if the extremes of both parties think I shouldn't be on this stage."
Sean O'Brien, Teamsters President @ RNC

Literally doing the meme of "I know I'm right if everyone hates me".

I have nothing against this strategy in principle and it's something that I hoped would be attempted, there is 0 reason for certain unions (like amazon worker unions because to my knowledge bezos hates republicans) not to play the 2 parties against each other and it's clear that just lobbying democrats isn't enough. Let's see how it goes and if they manage to squeeze something out of the gop

The american left has to be feel less bad about not being 100% loyal to democrats and letting them lose once in a while to pay some cost of them not backing labour that's for sure

He should have at least asked for some kind of concession before even showing up. The GOP isn't even paying lip service to unions other than just saying "we support unions" with absolutely no policy proposals to back it up, and a long history of being the most rabidly anti-union force in the world. The fact that the teamsters president is speaking at this convention implies that the party is softening on labor, when there's zero evidence that that's the case. Big L for Sean
