Just wanted to share a thread for those who don't regularly venture out of the bear site. Can't cross-post since it's defederated. It's small but has some numbers about community counts, active users, etc and links to more info from https://lemmyverse.net/. Thought it was notable that Hexbear shows up no matter how you sort it.

OP image is community count sorted by active users in the last month.

That link isn't working for me, but that Star Trek instance is full of a bunch of people who would be defending sanctuary districts if they were around today.

Debating whether or not to drop my hot take about why I don't think the libs should have been allowed to use Lemmy.

The Star Trek site banned me 3 months ago as a spammer and I don't even know why. Then despite being banned a few days ago they removed a comment I made with an aliexpress link.🤷 Fuck'em.

Bunch of computer touchers that crave techno-escapism from all worldly woes but also want to keep capitalism around because their internet funny money will totally make them royalty too.

Can you truly say you’ve had the HB experience if you haven’t recieved emoji/sticker/gif spam from people who weren’t alive for 9/11,

That I was, and I distinctly remember cracking a joke about it shortly after to only get around 50 absolutely horrified faces after saying "i guess the talibans favorite football team was also the New York Jets"

have never been outside their country,

I've been to ten foreign countries so far enjoyed them more than seventeen out of the eighteen states I've been to in the U.S.

I think that could count as being modestly traveled as an individual.

and refuse to listen to opposing views

I do listen to opposing views, I just do what every normal person does afterwards and tell you your views are wrong when they're wrong.

Part of why lemmit sucks ass is because of an underlying belief that every person should be allowed to speak on a topic and that every person is worth listening to. It’s why it’s bursting at the seams with incoherent lib screeds such as this. The culture enables the extreme entitlement they feel to speak authoritatively on subjects they know jack shit about.

Mao had the correct stance: people with the political literacy lower than that of an infant should be barred from speaking. No investigation, no right to speak. They are not qualified to speak on anything of importance, they should be stopped from doing so, and anything they do say is entirely unworthy of any thought or consideration or debate - it is the fruit of the poisonous tree of ignorance and malice. You don’t try to make rotten fruit taste good, you only eat fruit that isn’t rotten. Yes we have a duty to educate but that is initiated by getting them to form a basic understanding of the topic, not entertaining their incoherent word salads or laboring over its particulars. When they produce something that is the product of actual knowledge and understanding, that is the time for correcting errors. Until then, shut the fuck up, lemmitor. Read a fucking book for once in your life.
