    "it was just water"

I have dealt with the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality. What I can say with absolute certainty is that it takes moving a fucking mountain for the TCEQ to do a god damn thing. Pictures of raw sewage covering a neighborhood development weren't good enough for them to do any investigation because they suspected the pictures were taken while standing on the property, which is trespassing (there was no fence which is one of the basic requirements in Texas to be able to define trespassing). Raising the level of the entire property, thus completely changing the waterflow of the area? Sure, it was done for the express purpose of changing the waterflow, but unless an independent analysis was paid for by the neighboring properties TCEQ wouldn't even lift a finger to look at it.

If Spacex is getting fined by TCEQ their violations must be fucking gross and extreme. Spacex sucks so fucking much.

You should go check out the Spacex glazing thread we had the other day, lots of folks getting into a lather to support the engineers who are enabling Spacex's enormous environmental disaster so that they can lob short-lived satellites into LEO that will degrade in no time and contribute to pollution, launched on rockets that don't stop polluting when they get shit into orbit but continue pumping out pollutants on their way down.

Yeah I made a few comments and then just dipped out of reading my replies until today because the Elon glazing was so fucking thick. It was a mistake, I should only post in the newsmega with my people.

                Scientism is a helluva drug

As someone that is very much into science, I agree. That's why one of my favourite albums of all time is "Dear Science" by TV On The Radio. It's very much a critique of scientism and a critique on the "corruption of science", if you will.

If you've watched Breaking Bad walter-shock before you've probably heard this song from the album already, but it just sums it up perfectly.

Exactly, as the song says about the fetishism of science:

                    Eternalized, objectified
You set your sights so high
But this is beginning to feel like the bolt busted loose from the lever

One can only hope, and he does seem to be really losing it lately.

But I have a strong feeling that the "death professor" referred to in the song could be Oppenheimer, which makes sense if you see the song as describing the progress of science towards a nuclear detonation, from the barely controlled locomotive (steam era) to the static explosion of a nuclear warhead.

                enjoy your mudhuts

I hate crakkkers and this type of racist fuckery. Europeans developed immunity to illnesses because they slept in pig shit in actual mud huts while throwing sewage into the streets outside their home that contaminated the drinking water. Like everywhere else on the planet figured out bathing and hygiene, but whites just wallowed around in actual feces. The Romans thought Brits, French, Germans, and everyone else in northwestern Europe were disgusting.

Here we are, centuries later, and their descendants have the audacity to attack other cultures' infrastructure. A lot of the time, it was Europeans who destroyed everything. It's really easy for them to focus on space when they stole everyone else's shit.

I was absolutely this kind scientism enjoyer. When I was a teenager. Then I realized that the better world it promised is not possible under capitalism, it requires communism. Advanced technology is a necessary but insufficient condition for that kind of world. The social order matters too.

If you want another song critiquing the corruption of science, check out DLZ by TV On The Radio. I've already linked it somewhere in this thread.

The whole album is a highlight, at a time in the mid to late 2000s when music labels were pushing a certain sound and aesthetic on bands (trying to turn everyone into some MCR pop punk scene clone, no hate to MCR I still enjoy their music, just hate towards the big labels), and TV On The Radio decide to do something completely different and drop one of the best albums of the decade.

It seems like there's some kind of lib backlash against TV on the Radio, I don't get it because when I see criticisms I just close the tab

Well you see the band criticized US policy on Israel and bailing out the banks in their songs, called out assimilation, and talked about making an album about killing Nazis, and that's just too far for the libs.

But yeah they were cooking up something good, but they were just ahead of the times so they never got the level of fame they should have.

No, I took the aghast replies to me not being shocked and impressed by Spacex as Elon stanning, and people should absolutely go read that thread. Elon sucks and his companies do too and anybody who likes them is a chump.

came to say this lol. They basically exist to give a thumbs up to oil and gas companies to do whatever they want, idk how much shit spacex must have been dumping to get them to do their job for that month

It must have been extremely ridiculous for TCEQ to say anything, I wouldn't be surprised if the bar is "the coast is literally boiling with rocket fuel" for them to say "hey maybe not"
