i didn't know what that website was so i figured i'd drop the description here for anyone else
Ovarit is a platform for women-centered communities featuring conversations on politics, news, media, life, activism, and gender-critical and radical feminism.
is this an accurate description? did something change recently?
okay lol i just looked at it and it looks like they took all the worst things about reddit and centered it around women and hating trans people. looks like hell :gui-trans: :gui-trans: :gui-trans:
What if Reddit, but all the worst aspects magnified by a factor of 1,000
There are plenty of literal white nationalists who will say that exact same thing, for example.
When I was 14 I killed a "dudes lounge" that was a spinoff of a forum I belonged to because me and the other mods decided to let girls we were friends with from the main site in and the dudes weren't happy. So while I don't sympathize with the TERFs, reading this post brings back memories lol
Most sites can, especially if they're small and the mods aren't full-time or geeky enough to set up spam filters early on.
There's a certain irony in people on the internet being extremely mad over "letting <x> in". Like, it's a digital space. Nobody's checking your chromosomes on AOL. If you want to just... say you're a lady when you create the account, there is literally nothing stopping you.
I had a Reddit account where I just referred to everyone as "she" and "her", and it drove the chuds fucking crazy. People would angrily DM me with "WHY DO YOU THINK I'M A GIRL?!" and I'd just be like "50/50 ma'am". I got banned from /r/neoliberal for doing it to a mod (reason: Sexism) at one point.
