Guitar: schecter Demon 6 FR: great guitar. Oh my god do not get a floyd rose >:(

Other gear: Line 6 HX stomp. Expensive, but :100-com: worth it. I use it for all my pedals and amps.

Drums: Mapex Meridian 5-piece. Had this for years. No complaints.

Along with some Sabian B8s. Weakest crash in the world. First thing I'm replacing when I get the chance.

Learning how to tune drums is much more important than getting a nice kit. Plus I'm going for that muted low-fi sound so I'm never going to upgrade it.

Mics, and pre-amps: Audient iD14 interface. Good starter interface. Going to have to shell out a lot of money to get something with enough pre-amps (like 8 or something, plus a few DIs)

I've got a shure beta 52a on the kick drum, and an AKG 420 condenser mic for overheads. Both of these are great. At this point I'm limited by my interface really.

Any recommendations for a good bass? Looking to complete my trifecta of instruments.

I've got an Epiphone Jack Casady that i use for shows and recording, but that probably wouldn't be the best choice for your style. Maybe a sterling musicman bass? Or a yamaha bb bass?

I second the Sterling, maybe an Ibanez bass would be a good option too

Real talk the Sabuan B8 ride is underrated as hell for a cheap cymbal. Almost every other cymbal from that line is trash though.

Ec-200qm, Shecter Diamond Series that I got for half off because a cat pissed on it, and a mid-tier Yamaha bass. I have an old Fender squire and a Dreamcatcher I think that were my starter guitars.

I use Reaper with Amplitube through an irig stomp. I mostly record with its rectifier sim with a generic distortion pedal based off the Marshal guv I think but I use the other ones too. For real gear I have an older Peavery vypyr that bugs out sometimes, the starter amp that came bundled with the Squire, and a similar starter bass amp that my brother gave me.

    Gig rig:

Guitars: Fender Tele w/ Bigsby, Epiphone Sheraton acoustic, LTD Xtone w/ Bigsby that i stole from my drummer.

Amps: Heavily modded Blues jr. or Traynor YBA-1 with open back 4x10 cab.

Pedals: Boss OD-1, Earthquaker Acapulco Gold, EHX small clone, MXR phase 90 (formerly owned by Jay Farrar), some sort of solid state reverb from the 80s that i bought for 100$.

Not anymore than other non-locking-nut guitars. Mine are the made in america ones with a really soft spring, which is my preference. It can do the neil young thing and still stay in tune.

I'm gonna need to know all about that Sheraton, the YBA-1, and the EQD Acapulco! How does your amp setup sound? I might considering grabbing an Epiphone Casino at some point so I'd also like to know how you're liking the Sheraton.

The sheraton: its a pretty decent jumbo acoustic. Weighs basically nothing.

YBA-1: I mix the bass and treble channels. Makes me get my perfect clean mix. Really clean bass with distorted mids and highs.

Acapulco: Pretty much on whenever i'm in rock mode. I ride the volume and tone at all times. Works for me perfectly as my lead player can do what he needs, but it doesnt cover the bass or keys.

I have a squire classic vibe tele that I've painted a different colour everytime I've the urge to get something new. It's this one right now , headstock and all. With a Creamery handwound humbucker in the neck position. :big-cool:

geetars: gibson les paul studio, acoustic yamaha F-310P

other gear: line 6 amplifi TT. plugs right into my PC so i can use it as both a sound device + guitar amp. i would like an actual amp + pedals of course, since the digital amp effects aren't incredible, but this does the job for practicing and shit

    • Bass: Ibanez SR 300DX
    • Amp: A Peavey TKO 80 with a speaker cone I patched with a coffee filter after an old roommate put a hole in it
    • Pedals: 1 (one) Boss BD-2 distortion pedal
    • MIDI controller: A Korg NanoKey2
    • Interface: Focusrite Scarlett 6i6

I'm a skinflint so everything was a sub-$100 Craigslist find except the Focusrite, which I paid too much for "refurbished" at Guitar Center (they didn't even give me the power adapter). I have a licensed (!) copy of Reaper.

Obviously I don't ever record anything lol. I actually have disposable income now so I want to get to a music store as soon as I'm vaxxed and get some decent gear.

If that 6i6 is working for you, it might be worth considering just pirating a shitload of VST plugins before you go tone-chasing. Amp sims are about as good as the real thing these days.

Guitars: Schecter Synyster Gates Custom that I use for everything except classical, an Ortega for classical purposes, two Ibanez S-types and a cheap start knockoff.

    Amp: Blockletter 5150, Mesa 2x12

Pedals: Mostly using a Helix for effects but still have my trusty DL-8.

Afterlife, Victim (his best solo imo), Seize the Day, Nightmare, Sidewinder and Beast and the Harlot except for the chromatic section in the end, I still haven’t figured that one out. Also about 3/4 of Second Heartbeat, but I never got my head around the part when the shred kicks in. I also moved on to playing Jazz and Prog mostly some years ago, although I find myself playing A7X solos every now and then.

Also, nice looking board! A soul food was one of my first pedals, but i got rid of it because i'm not too crazy for the "transparent overdrive" type of pedals, i just like stuff that can make my amp sound like its breaking.

Thank you! I don't use a ton of overdrive but I like having it on low to get just a bit of that harmonic interference in chords but I wish it got a little gnarlier. I ordered a King of Tone clone called King of Clone like a month ago because I wanna see what all the hubbub is about for myself, hoping it'll replace the soul food when it finally gets here. I like grotesque sounding stuff too btw, big on glitchy echoey detuning noisy kinda sounds.

I use the earthquaker acupulco gold. Insane headroom. I just leave it on all the time, and let my volume knob do the work.

Ahh I've seen these. Sounds great and that knob is beautiful. I'll definitely be keeping it in mind. The King of Clone is a lot of pedalboard real estate too which I'm never crazy about, I was just real curious and figured it'd be easy to resell.

I wish this was my photo, but i might be able to find something similar when me and three other bands hooked up our boards together. It was like, 7 different boards. We called it Spaceship 1, because it probably had the same amount of circuits and computers nasa did with the apollo project.

Gonna need to know more about the Julia! I was so torn between that or the JHS Emperor and ultimately went with the latter

Oh wow I haven't seen the Emperor before. I just watched a few videos of the Emperor V2 and it sounds absolutely great. The square wave is really neat and I wish the Julia had tap tempo. It sounds a little more transparent I guess? I feel like I can recognize the Julia when I hear it but the Emperor sounds less distinctive, albeit still very good. I use it on full vibrato more than I use it as a chorus. Medium shallow depth with the rate turned down gives this wonderful vinyl sort of warmth that I haven't heard in clips of the Emperor yet but that could very well just be the settings in the videos I've seen. They definitely seem very comparable, I'm sure I'd be happy with an Emperor too.

What's awesome is that Walrus Audio put a V2 called the Julianna with some of the Emperor features like waveform & tap tempo, and some even more wild features like stereo out, an expression jack, and a ramp function similar to a Leslie speaker speed button. That's got me tempted if I ever want to swap out the Emperor. Yeah, more or less I use that straight chorus setting when I'm playing jangly indie stuff akin to the Smiths or the Stone Roses, really adds some extra sparkle and depth to my tone. Haven't done too much experimenting with it although the square-wave vibrato setting is fun to screw around with.

Ahhh that ramp feature is really cool, I'd love that. I've seen a similar feature on some reverb pedals and it always has me drooling. Personally I've been thinking about selling a couple pedals and trying out something real nuts like one of the Hologram Electronics pedals.

I use a Mexican strat with a modified tone control for the bridge pickup to have tone control. Fuzz War fantastic pedal. Plug a delay into that, you get such good tones. My dream piece of gear is a Moog Matriarch. For now I use the arturia emulations with a midi controller.

    Guitars:

    • ‘20 Squier Offset Tele - amazing instrument, swapped AlNiCos for Ceramic pups off a 00s MIM Tele, all Beef
    • ‘09 Gibson SG Special - Satin Black with ultra-rare triple scarf joint modification from breaking it a bunch. Loaded with SD 59’s
    • ‘79 Ibanez St50 - one of my first “serious” guitars, 25.5 in scale, double humbuckers. Very light guitar
    • ‘09 Fender Tele Standard - traded a Les Paul Studio Faded for it, shoulda got cash on top, still a good guitar. Built like a Volvo. Has NS3 Noiseless pups.

    Effects:

    • Boss TU-2 Tuner - it tunes. It mutes. It’s not mine 🤫
    • Walrus Audio Voyager - Since putting it on my board, I’ve achieved what I call a snarly, woody tone.
    • Walrus ARP-87 - Delay, more powerful than I need.
    • EHX Oceans 12 - Reverb, so many options, just use the first setting

    Amp(s):

    • Sovtek Mig-50h (Ethel) - My first gig ready amp.
    • Sovtek Mig-50h (Julius) - bought immediately as a backup once Ethel was acting up for $300 only a couple years back. Will never get a deal like this again.
    • EHX Mig-50 Reissue - bought off a friends after he needed car repairs. X/18 handmade in NYC.
    • Sovtek Mig-50 - a friend needed money to move out, i couldnt refuse, had a buzz somewhere. Just for home for now.

    Cabinet:

    • Avatar 212G - bought it as an empty cab. Threw in A Cannibus Rex, and i think A Swamp Thang. 16 ohms
